How it Works:

Use your HIVE wallet to convert your HIVE or HBD into electronic gift cards for hundreds of US stores!

Use the Card Me online form to select the gift card you want and select the gift card amount.

Card Me shows how much HIVE is required. Submit the form and the HIVE Wallet browser extension opens and asks for confirmation to transfer the HIVE funds to Card Me.

After agreeing and sending the transfer, you will receive a "pending" confirmation response.

Within an hour you will receive a small HIVE transfer to your account from Card Me with an encrypted memo which contains the gift card details and instructions.

Additionally, if you had submitted an email address, you will receive an email with instructions and the electronic gift card itself in the form of an image.

Follow the instructions for the gift card to activate the gift card and happy shopping!

Instructions:

Card Me is a service which converts HIVE and HBD cryptocurrency into electronic gift cards. The service is provided to transfer small amounts of HIVE cryptocurrency into tangible goods. We believe more people will join and use Hive Blockchain if there is a simple gateway from value earned in the Hive ecosystem into physical purchasing power of retail goods.

Currently, the electronic gift cards Card Me provides are for use in the United States, please keep this in mind before using the service. Additionally, Card Me only allows for transactions up to a $25 gift card value and 1 transaction to occur per account per day. This will allow for normal service usage without becoming a method of large-scale HIVE/HBD transfers or exchanges. Our mission is to help new Hivers convert Hive rewards into gift card rewards.

Before using the service, please read the instructions and information included on this page:
The Card Me service requires the usage of the Hive Keychain web browser extension and wallet. If you do not have the Hive Keychain web browser extension and wallet, please download it before using the Card Me service. To use the Card Me service, you will need to complete the form on the Get Started page.

This form consists of email, username, cryptocurrency type, gift card type, and gift card amount. The email form field is optional to include, however, by including an email address you will receive the gift card data by email in addition to receiving the gift card via encrypted Hive memo.

If you decide to enter an email address, enter the email address you would like the gift card to be sent to in the Email form field, and enter it again in the Confirm Email form field, ensuring the two field email values match each other.

When completing the form, the username field should consist of your HIVE account username that you will use to convert HIVE/HBD into a gift card. Additionally the username needs to match the Hive Keychain browser extension that is currently being used.

Select HIVE or HBD in the cryptocurrency type field dropdown menu to indicate if you want to transfer HIVE cryptocurrency or HBD cryptocurrency.

Select the type of gift card (gift card company) using the Gift Card dropdown menu. THIS SERVICE IS FOR United States retailers only.

Finally, select the gift card dollar amount from the Gift Card Amount field dropdown menu. After selecting Gift Card Amount Card Me will include a message next to the form field to inform you the amount of cryptocurrency (HIVE or HBD based on your selection) that you will need to transfer in order to receive the gift card in the dollar amount you selected.

Please review the form data you supplied and review the required cryptocurrency transfer amount, and if everything is acceptable, click the "Convert to Gift Card" form button at the bottom of the form in order to begin the transfer process and Card Me gift card conversion service.

Once the "Convert to Gift Card" button has been clicked, the service will double check the form fields for accuracy, and if there are any issues will include an additional message at the top of the form to indicate the errors or issues. Otherwise, once the form submit "Convert to Gift card" button has been clicked, the Hive Keychain browser extension should execute a pop-up menu for your account requesting cryptocurrency funds transfer to the Card Me account, @cryptocharmers.

Please ensure that the requested cryptocurrency funds transfer amount matches what was indicated by Card Me next to the Gift Card Amount field. Additionally, please confirm that the username that the cryptocurrency funds will be transferred to is: @cryptocharmers.

Once you confirm the funds transfer by using the Hive Keychain browser extension the funds should successfully transfer, please confirm the transfer success by viewing the Hive Keychain browser extension response data.

Once the transfer occurs, it is sent to the HIVE Blockchain for confirmation and to be "set in stone" and then the funds will be successfully transferred to the Card Me service HIVE account. After around 15 minutes in order to confirm transfer finalization the Card Me service will confirm the transfer amount and data and begin the gift card generation process.

The gift card generation process is physically performed by our Card Me team in order to ensure accuracy and therefore takes up to 45 minutes to process. Once the Card Me team member processes the transaction and generates the corresponding gift card, Card Me will send the gift card data to your HIVE account, and if provided, email the gift card to the email address provided.

 How much HIVE can I convert into a gift card?
Our service is intended to be used to convert smaller portions of HIVE, such as rewards from a few well-performing community posts. Therefore, we only allow each gift card to have a maximum dollar amount of $25. Additionally, we limit the service usage to once per day for each HIVE account.

Why does it take an hour to get my gift card?
We have to wait a little while to verify the transer on the blockchain, and then we generate and send the gift card. The gift card process is manual to allow for Card Me to review the transaction. We are working on a fully automated process, but wanted to provide our service in the meantime to facilitate the conversion of small HIVE amounts into fiat value, which we view as a current and pressing need in the HIVE community.

How can I trust you and your service?
The best part of the Blockchain is that you don't have to trust anyone and can still use it. Unfortunately, moving things such as HIVE currencies away from the Blockchain also leaves behind the built-in mechanisms which make the Blockchain so special. From your perspective, there is some risk in using this service. Thankfully, the HIVE amounts being transferred are considerably smaller in value when compared to other (and just as risky) services such as exchanges. Additionally, the HIVE transfers themselves are stored forever on the Blockchain, so everyone in the world can see from the HIVE side that you made the transfer to our service. We provide this service as a means for us to convert fiat into HIVE, as we pay fiat to generate the gift cards and then receive HIVE in the form of your transfer when using the service to obtain the gift card. We think that having a simple method of converting HIVE in this way really helps new HIVE community members to understand the platform and continue to use it.
